Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played for India during ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

According to reports in The Hindustan Times, it is understood that veteran Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are likely to play for India A in the unofficial ODI series against Australia A. Moreover, Kohli might travel to India this month for fitness tests.

India A and Australia A are scheduled to play two unofficial tests and three unofficial One-Day matches. The three unofficial One-Day games will be played on September 30, October 3 and 5 at Green Park, Kanpur.

Kohli and Rohit, who have retired from tests and T20Is, will next play for India during the ODI series against Australia in October. India will tour Australia for a three-match ODI series and five-match T20I series in October. Rohit will also lead the team in the ODI series, scheduled to be played from October 19 to 25.

The unofficial ODI series against Australia A will act as a good platform for Rohit and Kohli to prepare for the Australia ODI series.

Notably, Rohit and Kohli last played for India during the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March, which India won. In May, both batting legends announced their retirement from test cricket.

They last played competitive cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Representing the Mumbai Indians (MI), Rohit smacked 418 runs in 15 games to finish as the team’s second-highest run-scorer.

Kohli showed a marvellous form in the tournament, scoring 657 runs in 15 games to finish as third-highest run-scorer. His team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), won the title in IPL 2025.

Recently, Rohit underwent fitness tests at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. According to reports, Kohli’s fitness tests were conducted in London, where he currently lives.
