Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli all set to feature in Vijay Hazare Trophy after BCCI’s strict stance - Reports

Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli play only one format for India in international cricket now.
In what has been the latest development, as per a reports in the PTI, it is learnt that Indian legends in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all set to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year. The reports claimed that the duo will play at least three rounds in the tournament before India’s home series against New Zealand.
Having retired from T20Is and tests, Rohit and Kohli will be making a return to international cricket after seven long months in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting October 19. The future of the duo has been in the news for the last few days.
This came after the Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia was announced and Rohit was removed as the captain. After that, there were reports which claimed that if both Rohit and Kohli want to play ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 then they will have to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Even the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar mentioned it that every centrally contracted player, who is fit and available, is expected to play domestic cricket. And for Rohit and Kohli, there will be no special treatment as the duo will feature in the upcoming edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Rohit and Kohli will feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after the South Africa ODIs and ahead of the New Zealand series. Speaking to PTI, he said:
“Between the last ODI against South Africa on December 6 at Visakhapatnam and the first ODI against New Zealand at Vadodara on January 11, there is a gap of five weeks.
“The Vijay Hazare Trophy starts on December 24. There will be six rounds of games for Mumbai (December 24, 26, 29, 31, Jan 3, 6, 8). Rohit will be expected to at least play three rounds before linking up with the squad. Ditto for Virat,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity
The upcoming ODI series against Australia will be important for both Rohit and Kohli in the context of their future. It remains to be seen how both will perform in the series.
