Rohit Sharma has smashed 539 international sixes in his career so far.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is one of the best strikers in world cricket right now. Rohit is standing on the verge of breaking a six-hitting record. The Indian captain is just 15 shots behind overtaking Chris Gayle for smashing the most number of sixes international career. Gayle is recognised as the most brutal power hitter in cricket world. Former West Indian opener Gayle has scored 553 sixes in his international career with most of them coming in ODIs. Sharma has admitted that he wants to break this record of Universe Boss and become number one on this list.

Indian captain Sharma while talking to a freelance journalist Vimal Kumar said, “I want to break Chris Gayle’s six-hitting record. Never in my life, I would have imagined that I would break Chris Gayle’s record. It is funny (flexing his muscles), I am not a muscle guy but I like to hit the bowl hard. When I started playing cricket, I was told timing is important, Aerial shots were big no.”

Rohit will have the opportunity to overtake Gayle in the Asia Cup 2023 as India will be playing in the Super 4 round against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma not far behind

Rohit Sharma has 539 international sixes. He has smashed 280 sixes in ODIs and is currently at third position after Shahid Afridi (351) and Chris Gayle (331). In test cricket, Rohit has sent the ball over the ropes 77 times in 88 Test innings. Ben Stokes is leading the chart with 124 sixes in this format. Indian captain Sharma is leading the chart in a shorter format as he has smashed 182 sixes in his 140 T20I innings. Gayle is 4th in this list with 124 sixes, Martin Guptill is 2nd with 173, Aaron Finch is 3rd with 125 sixes.

India will be playing the next World Cup under Sharma’s leadership as well. They are currently in Colombo to take part in the Asia Cup 2023. India are scheduled to play their arch-rivals Pakistan in their game at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. Rain has been predicted during the game and in the latest developments, the Asian Cricket Council has also decided to carry a reserve day for cricket’s high-voltage clash. The previous encounter was washed out after the first innings in Kandy.
