Ravi Ashwin completed 500 test wickets during the recently concluded test series against England.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson felicitated senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for becoming only the second Indian bowler after legendary Anil Kumble to complete 500 test wickets. Ashwin was greeted warmly as Samson was seen presenting the veteran spinner with a special RR jersey that had 500 imprinted on it.

The veteran Indian spinner reached the milestone during the third test in Rajkot against England, etching his name in the record books by completing the historic milestone. Ashwin is also the fifth spinner after Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble and Nathan Lyon to bag 500 or more wickets in the longest format of the game.

Ravi Ashwin also became only the second bowler, after Muralitharan, to take 500 wickets in less than 100 tests. The willy off-spinner is the fastest Indian to reach 50, 100, 150, 200, 350, 400, and 450 wickets in the longest format of the game.

In the latest video shared on RR’s social media handles, Ashwin was surprised by the franchise’s heartwarming gesture. In the viral it can be seen, many RR players congratulated him on his historic achievement. “To you, Ashwin, from the Royals family. “With love, welcome home legend!” RR captioned the post.
