CSK are looking to swap Ravindra Jadeja with Sanju Samson from RR ahead of IPL 2026 auction.
In what could be the biggest trade ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are looking forward to swapping Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. However, according to a report in Cricbuzz, RR doesn’t seem to be convinced with the trade as they want Dewald Brevis as well from CSK in exchange for Samson.
Both Jadeja and Samson are Rs. 18 crore players of CSK and RR respectively and the deal would well have been settled by now if RR had not demanded Brevis as well. Jadeja is one of the most influential all-rounders in the IPL and has been the backbone of the five-time champions since long. Ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction, he was one of the five players retained by CSK.
On the other hand, Samson has been part of RR since the 2013 edition and was named as the captain ahead of IPL 2021. However, the right-handed batter is looking forward to parting ways with the team ahead of IPL 2026 to start a fresh journey in the tournament.
RR demand Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis in exchange for Sanju Samson

According to the latest reports, RR are insisting on getting two players in exchange for Samson from CSK- Jadeja and Brevis. The South African batter joined CSK midway in IPL 2025 and impressed with his batting performance. Since then, he has become a dominating batter in the franchise circuit and also attracted a record bid during the SA20 auction in September.
However, CSK are not ready to hand over two players to RR for Samson. CSK believe that giving up Jadeja, one of the best all-rounders in international cricket, is itself a big giveaway. The five-time champions are also understood to have consulted with the 36-year-old all-rounder ahead of the trade talks. As of now, the ball is in RR’s court.
Meanwhile, IPL 2026 auction is expected to take place in December 2025. November 15 has been set as the deadline for teams to announce their retention lists.
