Rajasthan Royals appoint Sairaj Bahutule as spin-bowling coach for IPL 2025

Sairaj Bahutule was part of Rajasthan Royals earlier as well.

On Thursday, February 13, Rajasthan Royals named Sairaj Bahutule as their spin-bowling coach for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Earlier, the franchise appointed Rahul Dravid as head coach, replacing Kumar Sangakkara, who served from 2021 to 2024.

The Royals finished third in the IPL 2024 league stage before being knocked out by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2.

After releasing Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal before the IPL 2025 mega auction, the team placed its faith in foreign spinners – Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana for the upcoming season.

Rajasthan Royals took to social media platform X to announce Sairaj Bahutule as their spin-bowling coach for IPL 2025.

Royals wrote, “Once a Royal. Always a Royal. Say hello to Spin Bowling Coach Sairaj Bahutule, who will look after your spin diamonds in IPL 2025.“

Notably, Sairaj Bahutule was Rajasthan Royals’ spin bowling coach from 2018 to 2021. He has 633 First-Class wickets and 10 scalps in T20s. He played two tests and eight ODIs for India before transitioning into coaching.

Bahutule expressed his gratitude on being reappointed by Rajasthan Royals. He highlighted the franchise’s culture of nurturing young talent and shared his excitement about working with Rahul Dravid and the coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Bahutule said, “Joining Rajasthan Royals again is a tremendous honour. The franchise’s commitment to nurturing talent and playing an exciting brand of cricket resonates with my own coaching philosophy.“

“I am eager to work alongside Rahul [Dravid, head coach] and the rest of the coaching staff to develop our bowling attack and contribute to the team’s success. Together, we aim to achieve great milestones in the forthcoming season.“

The IPL 2025 is set to begin in March. The schedule of the competition is expected to be released soon.
