The player auction of the third edition of SA20 will take place on October 1.
The player auction for the third edition of South Africa’s premier T20 tournament, SA20, will take place on October 1, with a total of 13 slots left to be filled. This development was confirmed by former South Africa captain Graeme Smith, who is the SA20 league commissioner.
The upcoming edition of the SA20 will be held from January 9 to February 8 next year. Currently, all six teams have around 14 to 17 players on their rosters and the squads will be completed at the auction in Cape Town on October 1.
Each franchise can have a maximum of 19 players in their squads, with a maximum of seven overseas cricketers. Apart from this, the teams have to pick one wildcard and one rookie player.
International stars like Dinesh Karthik, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Trent Boult, Jonny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Zak Crawley, Rashid Khan and Rahmanullah Gurbaz will also be seen in action in the upcoming third edition of the SA20.
A CSA statement added, “Each franchise will also need to select their Season 3 Rookie, while three of the franchises still have a wildcard to announce before December 30.” The schedule of matches will be announced on a later date.
