Ricky Ponting all praise for the "God of Cricket," Sachin Tendulkar on the latter's 50th birthday.

There’s always a debate between two generations, similarly in cricket, one of the biggest debates is about who is the greatest batter among Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.  Former Australian captain and current Delhi Capitals mentor Ricky Ponting has now contributed with his experience in the debate. Sachin Tendulkar is considered as ‘God’ in batting by his fans and Virat with his consistency has earned the reputation of modern day great in batting. DC Mentor, Ricky Ponting believes that there should be no comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He also rated Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman he has ever seen.

'Sachin is the best I have ever seen'

Talking to ICC Review he said, “I have said forever that Sachin's technically the best batter that I have ever seen, and played with or against. Whatever plan that we came up with as a bowling group, he found a way to combat it, whether it was in India or Australia”. Ponting also said that it is always tough to judge two different players. He said, “It’s hard to rank and judge players as everyone is different. Everyone plays differently, but in the generation we played, Sachin was technically the best player that I saw”. When Ponting and Sachin were playing, there used to be a comparison between the two.

Former Indian batter, Sachin Tendulkar had a 24 year long international cricket career. This is a tough milestone to achieve. Virat Kohli has been consistent in his career and has scored 75 International centuries. Ricky Ponting said, “Regardless of how many runs you make, how many hundreds you make, to be physically good enough and to stand up and play 200 test matches is amazing. Virat’s got all that ahead of him just yet. He’s got 70 odd international hundreds now. Sachin made a 100, didn't he?” He further added that we should wait until Virat’s career is over and then it will be a much fairer comparison.
