Sachin Tendulkar conducted an AMA on Reddit and answered fan questions.

Perhaps the greatest Indian batter of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, was asked about his favourite innings in a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) chat on the social media platform.

Tendulkar, who retired from the game in 2013, played 200 tests, 463 ODIs, and one T20I after making his India debut in 1989 at the age of 16. He amassed 15921 test, 18426 ODI, and 10 T20I runs with a total of 100 centuries to his name.

Over his career, he has had a few standout innings. His two centuries against Australia in Sharjah in 1998—often referred to as the “Desert Storm”—and his 98 against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup are among his most memorable knocks. None of these innings, though, is Tendulkar’s favourite.

In an ‘Ask Sachin’ fan interaction session on Reddit, Tendulkar stated that his 2008 test match century against England at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium was the most significant innings he had ever played.

There are many, but the most meaningful was against England in Chennai in 2008,” the legendary India batter added.

This knock came in a very challenging and emotional situation. The seven-match ODI series was curtailed to five matches, all of which India won. Then the two-test series was won by India 1-0.

In Chennai, England batted first and made 316 on the back of Andrew Strauss’ century, with Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra taking three wickets each. India replied with 241 runs. England hammered 311/9d, with Strauss and Paul Collingwood making centuries.

India were then asked to chase 387 runs and got an excellent start by Virender Sehwag, who crunched 83 in 68 balls on day four. Then Gautam Gambhir (66) and Yuvraj Singh (85*) kept Tendulkar company as the master conjured 103* to win India the game by six wickets.
