Sachin Tendulkar was part of the Rahul Dravid-led Indian team that defeated England in 2007 tour.
Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar predicted the winners of India’s tour of England 2025. India are on a tour of England for a five-match test series, which commenced on June 20 (Friday) with the opening game at Headingley in Leeds. The series will witness five tests, with the final encounter scheduled to be played at The Kia Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recently renamed the test series between England and India in England to Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in honour of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and England pace legend James Anderson. ECB retired the Pataudi Trophy, which was introduced during India’s tour of England 2007.
The Indian Cricket Team are currently in a transition phase with Shubman Gill taking over as captain of the test side following retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin from tests. Many youngsters are part of India squad and aim to showcase their might against the hosts England.

During a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, former Indian cricketer Tendulkar predicted that India would win the five-match series against England with a margin of 3-1. “I have settled for 3-1 to India,” he said.
Notably, India’s last series in England in 2021-22 ended in a 2-2 draw. India last claimed a test series victory in England in 2007, under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. India claimed a 1-0 victory in the three-match series, and Tendulkar was also part of the team. Recalling the 2007 series victory, Tendulkar termed it a fabulous moment.
“Winning the series was a fabulous, fabulous moment – that is what we strive for. There were multiple good performances by individuals… Zaheer [Khan] played a role. I think everyone coming together and then chipping in at the right time makes a big difference,” the 52-year-old said.
“I still remember we were in the dressing room, celebrating at The Oval, the last Test. These kinds of moments stay with you forever. We’re still talking about it 18 years down the line. I hope we’re able to do something this series too, so 20 years down the line we can still talk about it,” he further added.
Notably, India have won only three test series against England in England in the past. The other two arrived in the 1971 tour and the 1986 tour. India own a poor record in the longest format of the game against England at their backyard, winning just nine games out of 67 matches and losing 36 encounters.
