Sanju Samson said that Indian Cricket Team have a very positive environment in their dressing room.
Indian wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson opened up about the team’s trophy-less celebration after winning Asia Cup 2025 final. He said that positive environment in their dressing room was the main reason why they celebrated even without the trophy on the podium after winning the title.
Indian Cricket Team outplayed Pakistan Cricket Team in Asia Cup 2025 final by five wickets on September 28 in Dubai. Post the victory, the Suryakumar Yadav & Co. refused to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the post-match presentation.
As a result, an ACC official took trophy away from the ground, not handing over the silverware and medals to the Indian players. Later, the Men in Blue celebrated their victory at the podium without the trophy. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was seen mimicking lifting an imaginary trophy at the podium as other players joined him in celebrations.
It was a bit strange, but we actually have a very positive environment in our dressing room: Sanju Samson

Speaking during CEAT Awards Show in Mumbai, Samson opened up about the trophy-less celebration after the Asia Cup 2025 final. He said that it was a strange event to happen, however, they celebrated even with nothing in their hands, as they are a very positive side.
“It was a bit strange, but we actually have a very positive environment in our dressing room. Even if we don’t have anything, we have to celebrate that we have everything in our hands. So actually that’s what we did,” he said.
During the event, Samson also spoke about his emotional journey in Indian cricket. Last year, he grabbed the limelight after smacking three consecutive centuries in the T20I format.
“Someone like me who kept working silently, patiently and kept putting in the work mentally and physically with all the challenges and obstacles in front of me but always focused on the process and always focused on my inner-self instead of focusing on the outside noises and after a long wait of 10 years,” he said
“When I got the opportunity, I was able to score three match-winning centuries in the gap of five T20 international matches,” he added.
Meanwhile, Samson slammed a half-century in the clash against Oman in Asia Cup 2025. He also smacked a crucial 39-run knock in the Super Four clash against Sri Lanka. The right-handed batsman scored 132 runs across four innings at a strike rate of 124.52.
Samson has been named in India’s squad for the T20I series against Australia later this month. India will tour Australia for a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series starting October 19. The five T20I games will be played from October 29 to November 8.
