A lot of media reports claimed that Sanju Samson might play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2026.

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have decided not to trade Sanju Samson or any of their players ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The development comes amid all the rumours of the trade.

Since the last few months, a lot of reports have been circulating on social media about Sanju Samson’s trade. It was learned that the keeper-batter might go to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the five-time champions need someone who can replace MS Dhoni.

The reports claimed that CSK have finalised the deal and they will be giving Shivam Dube and Ravichandran Ashwin to RR for Sanju Samson. But if the keeper-batter goes in the auction, then Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) might come into the party as well.

Amid all the buzz, the source close to the developments said that Sanju Samson is an integral part of RR and the franchise won’t trade any of their players. Speaking to the Times of India, he said:

“RR have decided not to trade Samson or any of their players for now. Samson is very much a part of the Royals set-up and the undisputed captain of the team.”

This means that Samson will be leading RR in the next edition as well. He has been an integral part of the franchise since 2013. In the last season, he struggled with an injury and couldn’t play all the games.

Samson played nine games in IPL 2025, scoring 285 runs at an impressive strike rate of 140.39. In his absence, RR were led by all-rounder Riyan Parag. The franchise didn’t have a great outing in the league as they finished in the bottom half of the table.
