Sanju Samson's top 3 worst T20I series

Sanju Samson is part of India’s squad in the T20 World Cup 2026.

tSanju Samson is a crucial wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian Cricket Team in T20Is, who has retained his spot in the side over the last two years. The 31-year-old batsman made his international debut in 2015, but has played only 57 T20I matches so far.

Over the years, Samson has been in and out of the national side. In 2024, he impressed with three centuries in the shortest format, justifying his spot in the national team. Although he has delivered some brilliant batting performances in certain series, he has completely failed to perform on a few occasions.

There were a few T20I series where Samson’s flop batting shows became a talk of the town among the Indian cricket fraternity. On that note, below are Sanju Samson‘s three worst T20I series.

3. Sri Lanka vs India T20I series 2024

In July 2024, India toured Sri Lanka for a white-ball series, which comprised three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is. While the Men-in-Blue captured a stunning clean sweep in the T20I series, Samson flopped with his performance.

After resting for the first match, the wicketkeeper-batsman was selected for the second and third matches. However, he got out for ducks in both games, completely failing to make a mark with the bat.

At the start of 2025, India clashed in a five-match T20I series against England. Samson was part of the playing XI in all five matches, but completely failed to impress with his form.

Getting out for single digits in three out of five innings, Samson failed to hit a fifty. Although India secured a resounding 4-1 victory in the series, Samson’s batting struggles were evident throughout the entire campaign.

1. India vs New Zealand T20I series 2026

In the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand, Samson got his opening slot back with Abhishek Sharma. While he was expected to showcase his might at the top order, he could not score a single fifty across five matches.

Scored just 56 runs across five outings, the wicket-keeper batsman came up with a dismal performance. Getting out for single digits in three games out of five, including a golden duck, Samson thoroughly failed with the bat. It was a big setback for him as the series preceded the T20 World Cup 2026.
