A BCCI Source has revealed that Sarfaraz Khan's fitness hasn't been international level.

After India’s 16-member squad was announced for the West Indies tour, Sarfaraz Khan became the biggest talking point in Indian Cricket. Despite having staggering numbers in red-ball format Sarfaraz was ignored for the upcoming Caribbean tour next month in July. Now, a report has come out where BCCI sources have claimed that Sarfaraz is not picked due to his fitness level and also on and off-field behaviour. Sarfaraz Khan’s gesture to former chief selector Chetan Sharma while celebrating his century in a Ranji game didn’t go down well with the selectors, thus ruling him out from a place in the Indian test squad. Team India picked 4 specialist openers in the team and dropped Cheteshwar Pujara from the team as well.

Celebration behind Sarfaraz's non-inclusion!

Mumbai’s sensation Sarfaraz Khan has been batting magnificently in the Ranji Trophy and has got an average above 90 in Ranji Trophy in the last 3 seasons which is unthinkable for any batter in competitive cricket. BCCI sources on conditions of anonymity told news agency PTI, “His conduct on and off the field hasn’t been top notch. Certain things said, certain gestures made and some incidents have been taken not off”. Talking about Sarfaraz’s fitness, a BCCI source added, “I can tell you with some degree of certainty that the reason behind Sarfaraz getting ignored time and again is not cricketing one… One of the reasons is his fitness which isn’t exactly of international standard”.

As per a few media reports, Sarfaraz’s celebration of a century against Delhi earlier this year in a Ranji game, pointing towards National Selection panel chairman Chetan Sharma didn’t go down well. Sarfaraz celebrated that knock with dead singer Sidhu Moosewala’s signature style of a ‘pat in thighs’ and then pointing a finger towards Chetan Sharma who was watching the game from stands at Kotla stadium. This irked the national selection committee. Sarfaraz has scored 13 centuries in his 54 first-class innings. Team India will resume their international season with a month-long tour of the West Indies.
