Sarfaraz Khan hospitalised due to THIS reason; doubtful for Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarter-final against Karnataka

Mumbai to face Karnataka in their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarterfinal.
Mumbai team has copped a huge blow as star batter Sarfaraz Khan might be in doubt for their upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarter-final against Karnataka. The MCA Ground at Bandra Kurla Complex will host the high-stakes match starting on Friday, January 6.
Given the vital role he has played throughout the competition, his absence would be a huge setback for Mumbai. Sarfaraz anchored the batting order with a string of dominant performances during the Ranji Trophy’s second round, carrying over his scorching form from white-ball cricket.
This Ranji Trophy season, Sarfaraz has been unstoppable, scoring 429 runs at an incredible average of 53.62 across nine innings, including a century and a fifty.
He delivered one of the season’s best performances during the league stage, hitting a huge 227 off 219 balls against Hyderabad. In addition to demonstrating his supremacy at the domestic level, that innings also marked his 5,000-run first-class cricket milestone.
Sarfaraz Khan is hospitalised in Mumbai due to high fever

The 28-year-old has been hospitalised with a high fever just ahead of the Mumbai vs Karnataka Ranji Trophy 2025-26 encounter. Sarfaraz was unable to take the field in Mumbai’s last match in the tournament, and his condition has worsened over the past few days.
The star player is reportedly under medical supervision and ailing, and it’s unclear if he’ll be fit enough to play in the crucial match against the Devdutt Padikkal-led team.
“Sarfaraz has viral fever and has been hospitalized. He is unwell and thats why he couldn’t come out to the field, also in Mumbai’s last match against Delhi. At the moment, it’s unclear if Sarfaraz will recover in time for the Karnataka match,” a source was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The 28-year-old had previously displayed indications of bodily discomfort. Due to a hamstring problem, Sarfaraz was unable to continue playing against Delhi after managing a laborious 27-ball 24 in the first innings.
Furthermore, Sarfaraz Khan’s father also confirmed his hospitalization.
“I will go to the hospital today and check how he is now. He was admitted with a minor fever yesterday,” said Sarfaraz’s father, Naushad Khan, to MyKhel.
The Mumbai team management will have to wait anxiously before the quarter-finals, as both illness and fitness issues are now working against them. A final call on Sarfaraz’s availability is expected closer to the start of the match.
