Sarfaraz Khan received his maiden India test call-up for the 2nd IND vs ENG test in Vizag.

Team India suffered a huge setback ahead of the second test against England when middle-order batter KL Rahul and spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the second test due to respective injuries. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to add Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar in India’s squad for the second test. England crushed India by 28 runs in the first test in Hyderabad.

Upon hearing about his son Sarfaraz Khan’s selection for the second test in Indian squad, Sarfaraz’s father Naushad became deeply moved. Sarfaraz Khan had a terrific last few years in Indian domestic cricket and scored a bulk of runs. Sarfaraz’s First Class average stands at 69.85 in 45 FC matches. He recently smashed a ton while playing for India A against England Lions in the second unofficial test in Ahmedabad. His father Naushad Khan thanked everyone for supporting Sarfaraz Khan in his journey.

Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad Khan showed his support for his son in a video message. Naushad Khan said, “You all know that Sarfaraz got his maiden Test call-up today. I want to thank everyone, especially Mumbai Cricket Association where he grew up. Also, the National Cricket Academy where he got experience, BCCI and the selectors for trusting in him, and all his fans who prayed for him and supported him.”

Naushad Khan added that he wishes for a successful debut of Sarfaraz Khan and is hopeful of contributing to the team’s victory. Naushad Khan added, “We all hope that he always plays well for the country and contributes to the team’s win.” Sarfaraz Khan became a fan favourite with his consistent performances in Indian domestic cricket. He has smashed 14 centuries in 66 innings in FC cricket.

Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Sourabh Kumar also has been added to Indian squad for the second test against England. Sourabh Kumar was part of Indian squad two years back but he couldn’t find a place in the playing XI. All-rounder Washington Sundar also has been added to Indian squad for the second test. Washington Sundar’s last test match came against England in Ahmedabad in 2021.
