Shaheen Afridi becomes No. 1 bowler as ICC releases latest ODI players' rankings

Shaheen Afridi is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has seen some brilliant individual performances. It has been a batters’ dominant tournament so far, with so many batters scoring hundreds and teams registering some big scores consistently. But there are some bowlers who have done an excellent job in the tournament so far and have won matches with their performances.
One such bowler who has been excellent so far is Pakistan’s ace pacer, Shaheen Afridi. The left-arm pacer didn’t have a great start to the tournament, but then he picked up the pace and has taken the most wickets so far. Shaheen has taken 16 wickets at an average of 19.94 and is at the top of the table. In the last game against Bangladesh, he also became the fastest pacer to take 100 ODI wickets in his 51st game.
Shaheen Afridi dethrones Josh Hazlewood to become new No. 1 bowler in the latest ICC rankings
Shaheen Afridi has gotten the reward of his consistent performance and has become the No. 1 ranked ODI bowler for the first time in the latest ICC rankings. He picked up three wickets against Bangladesh to help his team register a crucial win. His performance has earned him the No. 1 ranked ODI bowler. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood (second), India’s Mohammed Siraj (third), and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj (fourth) have lost one place each and slipped one spot down.
Rashid Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mujeeb ur Rahman are at Nos. 6, 7, and 8. Siraj and Kuldeep are the only Indian bowlers in the top ten. This is the first time that Shaheen Afridi has become the No. 1 ranked bowler.

Speaking of the batsmen rankings, Babar Azam is still at the top, but the gap between him and Shubman Gill has decreased to just two points.
Babar has 818 points, while Gill has 816. Quinton de Kock has been impressive in the tournament and is the leading scorer. He is in third place with 765 rating points. David Warner is in fourth place. Rohit Sharma (5th) and Virat Kohli (7th) are the other two Indians in the top ten. India and South Africa have three players each in the top ten.
