Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh has made a bold prediction for himself. The right-handed batsman believes that he will be playing for the Indian Cricket Team in ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Interestingly, Shashank is yet to make his debut for India.
The 33-year-old has grabbed a lot of limelight with his aggressive batting performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the last two seasons. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter had a great season in 2025 as he slammed 350 runs in 17 games at an average of 50.0 and a strike rate of 153.50.
In IPL 2025 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the PBKS batter played a brilliant 61-run knock with six sixes. However, he failed to take his team home as they fell short of six runs in the 191-run chase. He earned a lot of appreciation from fans for his marvellous efforts with the bat despite the defeat.
I’ll be playing in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India: Shashank Singh

During a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, the right-handed batsman made a bold prediction that he will be playing for India in ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
“One prediction I have and that is in the upcoming (T20) World Cup in India, I’ll be playing, and I’ll be winning games for the team. I don’t know how that will happen, but I surely believe that it will happen,” he said.
“Surya hit Jofra (Archer) for six in his first match (innings), and now he’s the captain of the Indian team. Then there’s Pravin Tambe. He didn’t play for India, but at the age of 41, he debuted in IPL. Can you imagine that!,” he added.
Notably, ahead of IPL 2025, Shashank had predicted that PBKS would finish among the top two spots in the points table during an interview. Surprisingly, the Shreyas Iyer-led side finished as table-toppers and made it to the playoffs after 10 years. Eventually, they finished as runners-up after losing the final against RCB.
Meanwhile, ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be played next year from February to March. India and Sri Lanka are the hosts of the tournament, which will witness a battle among 20 teams for the title.
