Shaun Tait appointed as Bangladesh's new pace bowling coach

Shaun Tait will hold the post till ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Monday, May 12, 2025, appointed former Australian pacer Shaun Tait as their new pace bowling coach for the national team. The former Australia pacer will continue the role till the end of ICC ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa in November 2027. Tait has worked as the pace bowling coach of Afghanistan, West Indies, and Pakistan in the past.
The 42-year-old formerly represented Australia from 2005 to 2011 across all three formats. Tail played three tests, 35 ODIs, and 21 T20Is for the Aussies during his career.
He was also a part of the Australian team that won the ICC ODI World Cup in 2007. Tait was known for his ability to bowl 150+ kmph deliveries consistently and was among the fastest international pacers during his active years in the Australian team.
Shaun Tait succeeds Andre Adams as Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach
Tait has taken over the role of Bangladesh pace bowling coach after the departure of Andre Adams. The latter joined the side in March 2024. However, Bangladesh had a dismal campaign under his guidance during ICC T20 World Cup 2024 last year and the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.
After taking over the role, Tait said it is a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh team, and he will focus on grabbing more wins for the team.
“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like. It’s been spoken about many times the young talent with the fast bowlers-which is great,” Tait said.
“This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group and most importantly, getting more wins for the team,” the 42-year-old further added.
Tait will work with Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons. Bangladesh Cricket Team are all set to tour UAE and Pakistan this month. They will face UAE Cricket Team in two T20Is on May 17 and 19. Later, they will travel Pakistan for a five-match T20I series, which is scheduled to start May 25.
Next month, the Asian team will tour Sri Lanka for a multi-format series. Bangladesh will also clash with Indian Cricket Team at home in an ODI and T20I series in August.
