Shreyanka Patil reveals how she was informed about her maiden India call-up

Last month of 2023 was outstanding for young leg-spinner Shreyanka Patil. The 21-year-old young leg-spinner Shreyanka Patil made her international debut for India against England in the T20I format in December 2023. Patil has played 3 T20I games against England and also made her ODI debut against Australia in the second game of the 3-match series.
Shreyanka Patil made her mark with a splendid performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in the inaugural season. Shreyanka Patil made an impactful performance in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) with Guyana Amazon Warriors. While talking exclusively to Jio Cinema, Shreyanka Patil revealed the details about her maiden India call-up.
Shreyanka Patil’s special debut in Mumbai
Shreyanka Patil revealed that Kanika Ahuja was the first one to congratulate her and later on she was made aware about her maiden India call-up. Patil said, “I got a call from Kanika (Ahuja) who congratulated me. I asked her why she was congratulating me. Then I opened my WhatsApp and saw that I was added to the Indian team’s online group. That’s when I realised that it was real, and I was going to play for the Indian team.”
She also added that she wanted to make her international debut in Bengaluru but it happened in Mumbai. Patil said, “I was hoping that my debut would happen in Bengaluru, but Mumbai is the city of dreams so my dream came true here in Mumbai. I got goosebumps when I saw people chanting India, India when I was bowling.” Patil picked up 2 wicket against England in her T20I debut.
Shreyanka Patil bowled 10 overs in her first ODI game and picked up one wicket and coneeded 43 runs. Patil picked up 3 wickets in the final ODI against Australia and conceded 57 runs in her 10 overs. Shreyanka Patil is considered as the next big thing for India at the International level. Australia posted 338 runs in 50 overs in the final ODI at Wankhede Stadium.
