Shreyas Iyer will need one month to be completely match fit.

Indian Cricket Team batter Shreyas Iyer is doubtful for the ODI series against South Africa Cricket Team, as per the reports in The Indian Express. It is learned that the right-hander will need about a month to be completely match fit.

India are all set to host South Africa for a multi-format tour, which will begin with the two-match test series, starting November 14. After the test series, both sides will play three ODIs from November 30 to December 6. Iyer, who is an ODI specialist, was expected to play a key role in the series, but he would not be able to recover in time from his injury.

In the third ODI between Australia and India at Sydney Cricket Ground last month, Iyer sustained an injury to his rib while taking a diving catch of Alex Carey. He was seen in pain and immediately left the field after the incident.

He was admitted to a Sydney hospital after her was diagnosed with laceration of the spleen with internal bleeding. After his successful treatment, he was discharged from the Sydney hospital earlier this month and reportedly has returned to Mumbai.

The source also revealed that Iyer’s oxygen had dropped to 50, and he wasn’t able to stand properly for ten minutes. There was a complete blackout around him and it took him some time to come back to normal. As per reports, Iyer will need more than a month to recover from his injury and the selection committee has been informed about the development.
