Shreyas Iyer to play ODI series against South Africa? Reports make massive claim

Indian Cricket Team batter Shreyas Iyer is doubtful for the ODI series against South Africa Cricket Team, as per the reports in The Indian Express. It is learned that the right-hander will need about a month to be completely match fit.
India are all set to host South Africa for a multi-format tour, which will begin with the two-match test series, starting November 14. After the test series, both sides will play three ODIs from November 30 to December 6. Iyer, who is an ODI specialist, was expected to play a key role in the series, but he would not be able to recover in time from his injury.
In the third ODI between Australia and India at Sydney Cricket Ground last month, Iyer sustained an injury to his rib while taking a diving catch of Alex Carey. He was seen in pain and immediately left the field after the incident.
He was admitted to a Sydney hospital after her was diagnosed with laceration of the spleen with internal bleeding. After his successful treatment, he was discharged from the Sydney hospital earlier this month and reportedly has returned to Mumbai.

A BCCI source informed The Indian Express that Iyer will need more time for his recovery and is doubtful to play in the ODI series against South Africa.
“He will take more time to be fully match fit and the board and selection committee doesn’t want to rush after his injury. He is doubtful for the South Africa ODI series,” a BCCI source said.
The source also revealed that Iyer’s oxygen had dropped to 50, and he wasn’t able to stand properly for ten minutes. There was a complete blackout around him and it took him some time to come back to normal. As per reports, Iyer will need more than a month to recover from his injury and the selection committee has been informed about the development.
Notably, the 30-year-old scored 11 and 68 in the first two ODIs against Australia before getting injured in the final game. Prior to the Australia tour, he was appointed as the vice-captain in the 50-over format, with Shubman Gill taking over the captaincy.
