Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury scare ahead of the first test in Hyderabad.
India batter Shreyas Iyer was seen in pain after being hit on his right wrist during nets in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test between India and England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. The first Test will begin on January 25, 2024.
Iyer is a vital player for the Indian cricket squad at number four and five, but the extent of his injury has not yet been known.
Shreyas Iyer missed the major of 2023 because of a back issues and had been out of international cricket for about 5 months. Iyer did not play the IPL 2023, the ICC WTC final and the West Indies tour following the lucrative tournament.
Shreyas Iyer struggled in the most recent Test series against South Africa. Iyer only managed to score 41 runs in two Test matches. Iyer was dismissed cheaply in both games, but he played some nice strokes in the first Test in Centurion, scoring 31 runs.

As per the RevSportz report, after being hit on the right hand, Shreyas Iyer returned to the nets and resumed his practice. These are encouraging indicators for the Indian team, as his participation in the series is critical for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
Shreyas Iyer has so far played a total of 12 Test matches for India and has scored 707 runs at an average of 39.27. He has scored one hundred and five half centuries.
Iyer’s availability became even more important after Virat Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests due to personal reasons. Iyer is by far the best batter in Team India against spin and both venues of the first two tests, Hyderabad and Vizag, are expected to have turning wickets to aid the Indian spinners.
