Shreyas Iyer has hit the longest six of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in the match against Sri Lanka.

In a thrilling clash between India and Sri Lanka during match No. 33 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Shreyas Iyer hit the longest six of the tournament, a colossal 106-meter six. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field first.

India’s innings saw some scintillating performances, with Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli leading the charge. Gill’s aggressive 92 off 92 deliveries, studded with 11 boundaries and 2 sixes, laid a solid foundation for India. Kohli played a crucial knock, contributing 88 runs from 94 balls, including 11 boundaries.

After loosing two wickets, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have the responsibility to take India to a good target.

Shreyas Iyer hits a gigantic six

The moment that stole the show came in the 36th over. Shreyas Iyer was facing Sri Lankan bowler Kasun Rajitha. On the fourth delivery of the over, Iyer swung his bat hard, sending the ball soaring over the long-on boundary. It reached a breathtaking distance of 106 meters, making it the longest six of the tournament. The crowd at Wankhede erupted in joy as they witnessed this extraordinary display of power-hitting.

Shreyas Iyer’s colossal six overshadowed the previous record-holder, Glenn Maxwell, who had smashed a 104-meter six against New Zealand in Dharamshala. Iyer had earlier hit a 101m six against Afghanistan in Delhi

At the time of writing, India are currently batting on 264/4 after 40 overs with Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav on the pitch.
