Shreyas Iyer posts a special message to thank NCA staff after recovering from injury

Shreyas Iyer has played 42 ODIs for India, scoring 1631 runs with two centuries and 14 fifties.
Shreyas Iyer posted a heartfelt message for the staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on August 23, 2023, and posted a photo with Dr. Nitin Patel and physiotherapist Rajini after he recovered 100% from his back surgery and was included in India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad.
Shreyas was one of the biggest assets for the Indian team in ODI cricket, especially batting at the No. 4 spot, where he had scored more than 900 runs since 2021 and was named player of the Series in the last outing against Sri Lanka before a back injury derailed his progress.
Despite trying to get back to cricket without having to undergo surgery, Shreyas Iyer had to go with doctor’s advice and had to underwent a surgery to correct his back issues. This meant that he missed the IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship final against Australia.
However, the 28-year-old was working hard at the NCA to get back into peak fitness and return to the Indian team for the two big events this year, the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023.
‘Thank you Nitin bhai and Rajini sir and everyone at NCA,’ says Shreyas Iyer
And thanks to the efforts of the staff at the National Cricket Academy, Shreyas Iyer attained full fitness, was given the green signal by the BCCI selection committee, and was included in the Men in Blue squad for the Asia Cup 2023.
He thoroughly thanked the staff at the NCA with a heartfelt message on social media.
He posted: “Been a long journey but I’m super grateful to the people who stood by my side to help me to get where I am today. Thank you Nitin bhai and Rajini sir and everyone at The NCA, who’ve been tirelessly helping me. Much love and much appreciated”
This marks his return to the Indian team since January this year, and it is good news for the Indian team, which had struggled to fill in his spot at No. 4 despite trying Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sanju Samson in various series.
The Mumbaikar has made 1631 runs in 42 ODIs, with two centuries and 14 fifties to his name. He has also played 10 Tests and 49 T20Is so far.
