Shubman Gill moved to No. 3 while Ishan Kishan jumped to career high in ICC ODI batsmen rankings.

Team India have played two games so far in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The first match against Pakistan was washed out after the first innings. It saw the Indian top-order struggle, and the team was at 66/4 when Ishan Kishan played a counter-attacking knock and made 82 runs off 81 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. The left-hander added 138 runs with Hardik Pandya (87) to take India out of misery.

In the second match against Nepal, Nepal scored 230 runs against India. Indian team made 147/0 in 20.1 overs to win by 10 wickets (by DLS method). Rohit Sharma made 74 off 59, while Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 67 off 62 runs. After these knocks, both Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have benefited and moved up to their career-best rankings in the latest ODI rankings.

Shubman Gill is at No. 3 while Ishan Kishan has jumped to 24th spot

The performances in the first ODI for Ishan and in the second game for Gill helped them achieve new career highs in ODI rankings. Notably, Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who smashed his second-highest ODI score of 151 in the game against Nepal, is firm at the top, while Rassie van der Dussen is in the second spot. Gill, after an unbeaten fifty against Nepal, has moved to third place.

On the other hand, a brilliant knock against Pakistan under pressure helped Ishan jump 12 spots to 24th place in the rankings. Gill is the highest-ranked Indian batter in the ODI rankings. Virat Kohli, who only played against Pakistan and scored four runs, and is at 10th place.

Meanwhile, Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, who scored an unbeaten half-century against Nepal and won the Man of the Match award, is in 11th place in the rankings with 695 rating points. Indian team will now play their next game in the super four. They will face Pakistan on September 10 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
