Shubman Gill was appointed as the test captain of India last month.
Indian Cricket Team test captain Shubman Gill pointed out the key differences of playing under Gautam Gambhir and Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra. He said both are different, and it’ll be fun for him to work with India’s head coach.
Shubman Gill is all set to take the reins of the test team from the upcoming series against the England Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in a five-match series, which will begin from 20th June at Headingley in Leeds.
Shubman Gill was appointed as the test captain of India last month. His appointment came after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the longest format of the game. This will also see the team entering a new era as a lot of youngsters have been added to the squad.
Shubman Gill, who plays under Ashish Nehra at GT in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will be working with Gautam Gambhir for the first time in his career. The duo will be keen to take team glory and help India claim the first-ever series win in England since 2007.
Gauti bhai is very determined, very committed – Shubman Gill
While discussing his experiences working with Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra, he mentioned that the GT coach is very animated and expressive. While Gambhir is determined and committed. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
“It’ll be very fun (to have someone as different as Gambhir as coach,)” explained Gill to Karthik. “Ashu pa (Nehra), as you said, is very hands-on, very animated, very expressive, in terms of his personality and your personality reflects on your coaching style as well, so he’s very expressive.”
“Whereas Gauti bhai is very determined, very committed, and he’s also very clear in his communications, what he wants from the players and what kind of mindset he would want the players to have,” he said.
Shubman Gill impressed many with his leadership during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He took GT to the playoffs and led from the front, scoring over 600 runs.
