Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill added 165 runs for the opening wicket in fourth T20I vs WI.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have scripted one of the best opening partnerships in T20 International cricket. India defeated West Indies by a huge 9-wicket margin in 179 run-chase to equal the scoreline 2-2 in 5 match T20I battle. Thanks to two young openers, Yashasvi and Shubman added 165 runs for the first wicket to equal the best opening partnership for India in this format. West Indies looked out of rhythm against these two batters and they couldn’t capitalise on the chances they got during the partnership.

Yashasvi-Gill equal Rohit-Rahul’s record

This is India’s second biggest partnership in T20I cricket as these two youngsters have equaled the record of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul added 165 runs for the opening wicket against Sri Lanka in 2017 in Indore. Both these batters added 165 runs in just 12.3 overs as Rohit Sharma smashed the fastest century for India in this format. He contributed 118 runs in 43 balls with 12 fours and 10 sixes in the inning, Rahul also smashed 89 runs in 49 balls with 5 fours and 8 sixes. India went on to score their highest score in that game and defeated Sri Lanka by 88 runs. India scored 260 runs in 20 overs.

Similarly, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill got off to a flyer against the West Indies bowlers. Shubman Gill scored 77 runs in 47 balls while Yashasvi remained unbeaten on 84 runs to see India home and equal the series. Jaiswal smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes in his 51-ball innings. The counter-attacking stand lasted for 15 overs to put India in a comfortable position. The highest opening partnership record in T20I cricket is held by Afghanistani opening batters Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani against Ireland in Dehradun. Both added 236 runs for the first wicket in 17.3 overs.

India defeated West Indies in back to back matches to remain alive in the series. Kuldeep Yadav once proved a game-changer for team India in the middle overs of the West Indies innings as he curtailed the Caribbean batters with his wrist spin. Kuldeep Yadav helped India restrict West Indies by 178 runs with his spell of 2/26 in 4 overs. A modest total in a batting wicket didn’t put pressure on the Indian opener and they went to chase the total easily. The final game will be played on Sunday at the same venue in Florida.
