Shubman Gill jumps up one place in latest ICC ODI batting rankings
Indian opener Shubman Gill has 743 rating points under his name.
In the new latest ICC rankings, Indian opener Shubman Gill has been rewarded for his good work in the 50-overs format. Shubman Gill has been a consistent performer in the 50-overs format in the last two years. Gill has smashed four ODI centuries in his last 24 ODI games since January 2022. In the new ICC ODI batting rankings, Shubman Gill has gotten the reward, and the right-hand batter climbed up to number 4 position with 743 rating points. Gill will be taking up the responsibility of opening along with Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Changes in ODI rankings
Pakistan opening batter Fakhar Zaman has slid down two places in the ODI batting rankings, his fellow countryman Imam Ul Haq and Indian batter Shubman Gill got the benefit. Along with Shubman Gill, Imam Ul Haq has also jumped up a place and is currently third. Pakistan captain Babar Azam is still number one in the ODI batting rankings. Afghanistan’s off-spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman, with his brilliant performance against Pakistan in the first ODI, has also leaped three places and become the third-ranked bowler in the ICC rankings. Mohammad Siraj has slid down a place, and now he is 5th in the rankings with 671 rating points.
Bumrah, Bishnoi and Gaikwad earn big in T20Is
In the T20I rankings, Ruturaj Gaikwad saw the biggest jump after his magnificent 58-run innings against Ireland in the 2nd T20I. Gaikwad jumped up 143 places and placed himself in the 87th position for the first time. India’s premier T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav is still the number one-ranked T20I batter despite missing the Ireland tour. SKY had a brilliant five-match series against West Indies earlier this month. After Surya, Virat is the second highest-ranked Indian batter in the 20th position. No other batter is currently in the top 20 apart from Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli.
Jasprit Bumrah made a great comeback after a long injury break. Bumrah, with his A-level game, has moved up 7 places and is currently in 84th position. Ravi Bishnoi is also making good use of the damp conditions in Malahide. Bishnoi has picked up four wickets in the tour so far and jumped up 17 spots to reach the 65th position in the ICC T20I bowlers rankings. Rashid Khan is still the leading bowler in rankings with 713 rating points. The youngsters will have one more game against Ireland to improve their rankings on Wednesday.
