Old photos of Shubman Gill winning BCCI U16 cricketer award go viral after Naman Awards 2024

Shubman Gill won Polly Umrigar Award for the best men’s international cricketer 2022-23.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) award ceremony Naman was held after 4-year gap. The BCCI awards 2024 ceremony was held in Hyderabad with a galaxy of Indian stars and BCCI office-bearers present. Shubman Gill won the biggest prize of the Polly Umrigar Award for his best performance in international cricket for the Indian side in the previous year.

In women’s cricket, Deepti Sharma won the best international cricketer. Deepti Sharma also had impactful performance for the Indian women’s side in international cricket. Opening batter Shubman Gill had a terrific year in 2023 and scored a bulk of runs in limited-overs cricket. One old picture of Shubman Gill is going viral after his name came up in Naman 2024.

Shubman Gill’s U16 photo go viral

Shubman Gill won the Polly Umrigar Award for best men’s international cricketer due to his consistent run with the bat in limited-overs cricket in 2023. He scored a double century in Hyderabad at the beginning of 2023 and also scored a century in T20I format. After winning the award on 23rd January, 2024, his image from 2016 has gone viral on social media.

Shubman Gill won the best Indian cricketer award in U16 category in 2016. Shubman Gill had a terrific Vijay Merchant Trophy campaign for Punjab in 2016 and ended Vijay Merchant Trophy as leading run-scorer. His performance won the title for Vijay Merchant title for Punjab in 2016. He was rewarded for his 734 runs at an average of 73.4.

Recalling the same, Shubman Gill posted an old photo of him with Virat Kohli, when he won the award in 2016. Gill captioned, “So much nostalgia, from coming here when i was 14 and meeting my idols and legends for the first time. Watching Virat bhai win cricketer of the year was something I would never forget. Pure motivation for me to go a step further and give everything for my country this year.”
