Shubman Gill missed first two games for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Team India have started the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in grand fashion and are in second place on the points table with four points. After defeating the five-time champions Australia in the opening game in Chennai, the hosts have won their second game as well. They beat Afghanistan comprehensively by 8 wickets and 15 overs to spare in Delhi on Wednesday.
Indian batting looked pretty good, led by the captain, Rohit Sharma, who smashed the fastest World Cup century by an Indian batter off just 63 balls. Rohit made 131 runs off just 84 balls, with five sixes and 16 fours. Virat Kohli also remained unbeaten with 54 off 55 and took India over the line. With this, India have added two more points to the table.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Shubman Gill reached Ahmedabad but is doubtful for IND-PAK Clash on October 14
Indian team will now face arch-rivals Pakistan in their next game on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. That will be a much-awaited clash in the ongoing tournament. Fans are eagerly waiting for that game. Pakistani team reached Ahmedabad a day ago, and star Indian opener Shubman Gill also reached Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Gill missed India's first two games after suffering from dengue.
He didn't travel with the team to Delhi for the second game. In fact, he was hospitalized in Chennai and was under the supervision of the medical team. However, he has shown great recovery, which is a good sign for the team. Shubman Gill has reached Ahmedabad ahead of IND vs PAK game, but he is unlikely to feature in the game.
A source told PTI that Indian team will not take risk with him, and if he is not fully fit, he is not likely to feature in the game against Pakistan. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan opened the innings with Rohit in the absence of Shubman Gill. He got out for a golden duck against Australia, but scored 47 off 47 against Afghanistan in Delhi.
