Shubman Gill faced neck injury during the Kolkata test against South Africa.
The Indian Cricket Team ODI and test captain Shubman Gill is all set to make a comeback soon as he is on the road to recovery. The right-hander will begin his rehabilitation on Monday, December 1 and will be back in the Indian squad soon.
Indian captain Shubman Gill has been out of the action for a while now. During the first test against South Africa in Kolkata, the right-hander injured his neck and was ruled out of the test series as well as the ongoing ODI series.
The batter went to Mumbai to consult a specialist and the reports in Times of India claimed that the Indian test captain underwent physiotherapy sessions in Mumbai and then after that went to Chandigarh to spend time with his family.
It is learned that Shubman Gill will now be flying to Bengaluru from Chandigarh on Monday and will begin his rehabilitation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE). In this phase, he won’t be batting in nets but is expected to resume training in the coming days under the watch of the BCCI medical team.
There are no red flags at the moment and he has taken multiple flights – BCCI source on Shubman Gill

The source close to the developments claimed Shubman Gill’s recovery is on track and the moment the batter is 100% fit, he will be back in the squad. Speaking to The Times of India, he said:
“There are no red flags at the moment and he has taken multiple flights – Kolkata to Guwahati, Guwahati to Mumbai, Mumbai to Chandigarh and now Chandigarh to Bengaluru – without any discomfort. All efforts right now are aimed at having him back in the park but it will not be a rushed process.
“The moment he is 100% and feels ready for the grind, he will be back with the squad. He is an important all-format player and everyone wants him to be absolutely ready.”
In his absence, India lost the test series by a margin of 2-0. And KL Rahul has been given the responsibility to lead the team in ODIs. It remains to be seen if Shubman Gill will be fit for the T20Is or not.
