Former actress turned politician Smriti Irani names MS Dhoni as her favorite cricketer
MS Dhoni recently led the CSK franchise to the IPL 2023 trophy.
Smriti Irani, former actress and currently heading the Ministry of Minority Affairs and Ministry of Women and Child Development, revealed her favorite cricketer and it is none other than the great MS Dhoni.
Despite having retired from international cricket, former India captain MS Dhoni’s popularity has not decreased; rather, it has increased. Dhoni, who recently led Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL championship, has pledged to play for the team again in 2024. The 42-year-old Dhoni is well-liked by both fans and famous people.
In a recent Q&A session on social space, Smriti interacted with her fans and answered their questions. One of the fans asked her who was her favorite cricketer and many expected her to answer Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma.
However, Irani revealed that it was Dhoni. She used three popular ‘Dhoni’ stickers to answer the question.

MS Dhoni enjoying time in Ranchi, driving his vintage cars
MS Dhoni had led the Chennai Super Kings to its fifth IPL title in 2023 and a day after traveled to Mumbai to get surgery on his troublesome knee which had been an issue for him during the entire IPL 2023.
After having surgery, Dhoni moved to his farmhouse in Ranchi and has been training and recovering at the JSCA stadium in the city. Apart from that, he has been also seen driving on the roads of Ranchi in his various vintage cars.
A known motor-vehicle aficionado, MS Dhoni has over 20 vintage cars and many more bikes, including some very expensive superbikes as well.
MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 after 90 matches and the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand was his last international outing for the Indian team. He called time on his India career on August 15, 2020 after the T20 World Cup that year was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, MS Dhoni has continued to play in the Indian Premier League and won the IPL titles in 2018, 2021 and most recently 2023 for the Chennai Super Kings, leveling with Mumbai Indians for the most IPL title wins at 5.
