Sourav Ganguly returns as President of Cricket Association of Bengal

Sourav Ganguly will succeed his brother Snehasish Ganguly in the role.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has returned as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), a position he held between 2015 and 2019. He will succeed his elder brother Snehasish Ganguly in the role, who has been in the role since 2019.
The CAB elections will take place on September 22 during their annual general meeting. However, Ganguly is confirmed to return as the next CAB president as there are no other nominations submitted for the post. Hence, he will be elected unopposed. Ganguly filed his nomination for the post on September 14 (Sunday).
Moreover, Ganguly might also return as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Previously, he served as the BCCI president from 2019 to 2022 and was succeeded by Roger Binny. After returning as CAB President, he is eligible and in the fray for the post of BCCI president.
Ganguly will represent his state association in the upcoming annual general meeting of the BCCI on September 28 in Mumbai. Nominating the next BCCI president will be one of the key agendas during the meeting.

While speaking to the media, Ganguly thanked CAB officials for their support, saying that they look forward to the progress of Bengal cricket.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support. At CAB, there is no opposition, everyone is a part of this Association. We will all work together to take CAB & Bengal cricket ahead. There are important events coming up at – Eden Gardens – India’s Test match against South Africa, T20 World Cup, Bengal Pro T20 League. I will try and do my best,” Ganguly said.
Recently, Ganguly was appointed as the head coach of the Pretoria Capitals team for SA20 2026, replacing Jonathan Trott. The tournament will be played from December 26, 2025, to January 25, 2026.
