Sourav Ganguly formerly served as the BCCI president.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly feels that India should break all cricketing ties with Pakistan after the recent terror attack in the Kashmir valley. Notably, Indian cricket team does play bilateral cricket series with Pakistan cricket team due to political tensions between both nations. Both neighbouring countries only face each other in International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments.

On Tuesday, April 22, a group of terrorists killed over 20 people in the Pahalgam town in Kashmir. The terror attack shook the entire nation. A Pakistani terrorist group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), The Resistance Force (TRF), claimed responsibility for the attack.

Terrorism should not be tolerated: Sourav Ganguly

While speaking to the reporters, the former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said that India should break all cricketing ties with Pakistan and also not face them in ICC tournaments as well. Condemning the attack, he said terrorism cannot be tolerated.

“100 per cent, India should do break cricket ties with Pakistan. Strict action should be taken. It is not a joke that such things are happening every year. Terrorism cannot be tolerated,” the Indian batting legend said.

Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had also criticised the terror attack and reinforced that Indian team will not play any bilateral series with Pakistan in future. Notably, BCCI also took steps to pay tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

During Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clash of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Wednesday, April 23, players, match officials, commentators, and support staff wore black armbands. The players and spectators also observed a minute of silence ahead of the start of the game. Both captains- Hardik Pandya and Pat Cummins – condemned the attack and paid tributes to the victim during the toss.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has also initiated necessary actions post the attack and launched an investigation to capture the culprits. Many people have also been arrested in the matter. The Indian government has also revoked visas of Pakistani citizens in India.
