Sourav Ganguly likely to become CAB President, to be elected unopposed - Reports

As per the reports, Sourav Ganguly will be elected unopposed.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is all set to return to administrative duties as he will be fighting the elections for the presidency of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). As per the reports in My Khel, it is learned that he will be submitting his nomination on September 20 ahead of the board’s AGM.
The reports claimed that Sourav Ganguly will be elected unopposed as no one will stand against him in the elections. This is because current CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav’s elder brother, won’t be able to contest this time because of the tenure caps set by the Lodha Committee.

The source close to the developments said that Sourav Ganguly taking the role will be good for Bengal Cricket. Speaking to My Khel, he said:
“He will be the CAB president again after the cooling period following BCCI role. His elder brother is going out, so he comes in. It’s good for Bengal cricket. No one will oppose him as long as the current political scenario in Bengal prevails.”
This is the second time Sourav Ganguly will be becoming the President of CAB. Earlier in 2015, he became the Secretary of the board and in the same year, he was promoted as the President. He served the role until 2019, helping Bengal Cricket grow.
After he stepped down from the President of CAB, he was appointed as the president of the BCCI from 2019 to 2022. During his tenure, he achieved some great things as he initiated the construction of a world-class National Cricket Academy (NCA), known as Centre of Excellence (CoE), in Bengaluru.
Not only this, he also launched Women’s T20 Challenge to boost women’s cricket, which paved the way for Women’s Premier League (WPL). Also, BCCI secured record IPL media rights deals worth over ₹48,000 crores for the 2023–2027 cycle.
