Dewald Brevis included as South Africa announce new-look squad for tri-series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe

The tri-series between South Africa, Zimbabwe and New Zealand will begin from 14th July in Harare.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a new-look squad for the upcoming tri-series against the New Zealand Cricket Team and the Zimbabwe Cricket Team. Rassie van der Dussen will be leading the 14-member team in the series in the absence of Aiden Markram, who has been rested.
The tri-series between South Africa, New Zealand and Zimbabwe will begin from 14th July. All seven games of the series will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. The series will mark the preparations for the Proteas and the Black Caps for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka.
The South Africa squad for the tri-series will see the return of Gerald Coetzee and Nandre Burger after eight and 11 months, respectively. Both the fast bowlers missed the cricketing action due to injuries and would want to make a huge impact on their return.
South Africa will be without regular captain Aiden Markram, batters Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and David Miller, all-rounder Marco Jansen, pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada and left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, who will lead the test side in Zimbabwe.
While Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi have been dropped. The notable additions in the team are Dewald Brevis, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Rubin Hermann, left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy and all-rounder Corbin Bosch.
The pace battery for South Africa includes Kwena Maphaka and all-rounder Andile Simelane, who has played five T20Is. While Muthusamy, George Linde and Nqabayomzi Peter are amongst the spinners in the side.
