Spencer Johnson will not be a part of the Australian squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Australia‘s left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson has been ruled out of the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL). The 29-year-old has been out of action since the last Indian Premier League (IPL) season earlier this year as suffered a back pain while playing in the league.
The left armer’s injury was exacerbated just before Australia’s tour of the West Indies in July. The scans showed a stress fracture, which is still troubling the Australian, keeping him on the sidelines. Besides BBL, the hopes of representing Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 next year have also gone for a toss.
Spencer Johnson to not play for Brisbane Heat in the BBL
Spencer Johnson is one of the key names in the bowling contingent of Brisbane Heat. He played an important role in the title-winning season for the Heat. They finished in 7th position last season and were determined for a roaring comeback this season.
However, Brisbane Heat will have to recalibrate their plans before the season starts, with one of the important players sitting out. Spencer has played 28 matches for the franchise, picking up 41 wickets with an economy of 7.55.

After his latest scans in October, the chances of him being available for selection for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 have also been demolished. Australia will be starting their campaign in the tournament on February 11, a deadline that Spencer Johnson will not be able to meet.
