SRH will next face CSK on April 18.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have not had an impressive start to the Indian Premier League 2026. They have lost three games out of five so far and take the fourth spot in the points table.
However, SRH defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous game despite missing a few crucial pacers. Since the start of IPL 2026, SRH have suffered blows in their bowling unit.
Pat Cummins was ruled out of the initial games due to recovery from a back injury. Recently, Brydon Carse was ruled out of the tournament and Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka was named as his replacement. Now, SRH have faced another big blow in their bowling department.
David Payne ruled out of IPL 2026
SRH pacer David Payne has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2026 due to an ankle injury. Payne was signed for INR 1.5 crore as a replacement for Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards.
He made his IPL debut in the tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He picked up two wickets in the match as an impact player. He also played another game against KKR, where he remained wicketless.
While Payne’s ouster will hamper SRH’s bowling unit, they will be confident after impressive shows by debutants Praful Hinge and Shakib Hussain in the previous game. Both of them picked four wickets in the clash, propelling the team to a huge victory.
Meanwhile, SRH also await the return of Cummins in their squad. He is expected to return to India after a final test of his back injury. He would join the squad after April 17. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is leading the team in the tournament.
Sunrisers will next clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 18 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
