The 1996 World Cup champions Sri Lanka still have a slight chance to make it to the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They have lost five of the seven games. But still, they have a lot of things to fight for. There is a place for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on the line, and for that, they will have to win their remaining two games.
Sri Lanka will be facing Bangladesh in match No. 38 of the tournament on Monday. This match will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Bangladesh have had the worst tournament. Hence, Sri Lanka will be confident going ahead. Here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh.
BAN vs SL: Sri Lanka’s Predicted playing XI vs Bangladesh, Match 38
1. Pathum Nissanka :

Pathum Nissanka got an unplayable delivery from Jasprit Bumrah in the last game and got out for a golden duck. But he is in great form and has scored 289 runs at 48.16 with four half-centuries. He will be confident enough to do well in the coming game against Bangladesh and take his team to victory.
2. Dimuth Karunaratne :

The veteran opener has just played two games so far and scored 14 runs. But Dimuth Karunaratne will be looking to do well with a less dangerous opposition. He can play big innings if he gets set, and we might see him scoring big runs on Monday against Bangladesh in Delhi.
3. Kusal Mendis (wk & c):

Kusal Mendis hasn’t made any impact in the last few matches, like the way he started the tournament. Mendis hit 14 sixes in the first two innings and smashed every bowler with a century and a fifty. He can be the most destructive batter of the day. With 269 runs in the tournament, he will look to add a few more before the end of the tournament.
4. Sadeera Samarawickrama:

Sadeera Samarawickrama has been the best batter for Sri Lanka in this tournament. He has scored the most runs for his team. Samarawickrama has scored 331 runs at an average of 66.20 and a strike rate of 103.11, with one hundred and two fifties. He will be a big wicket for Bangladesh because he can take the game away from them.
5. Charith Asalanka :

Charith Asalanka is a key member of Sri Lankan middle-order because of his ability to soak up pressure and play crucial innings. The left-hander hasn’t performed to his full potential but can be a game-changer. He has scored 172 runs so far and will be looking to make an impact in the coming game on Monday.
6. Angelo Matthews:

The veteran all-rounder Angelo Matthews has been a great addition to this team because of his ability to deliver under pressure with both bat and ball. With his immense experience, he will be the key for Sri Lanka, and his all-round ability will be key for them, and it will decide how they perform against Bangladesh.
7. Dushan Hemantha :

Dushan Hemantha is a pretty effective spin-bowling all-rounder. It is still early days for him in his career, but he will be a surprise package. He will get some grip in Delhi, and not to forget, he can play some brilliant cameos with the bat. Sri Lanka will hope that he can contribute well in both departments and help the team get some edge over Bangladesh.
8. Dushmantha Chameera:

Dushmantha Chameera will be the key player for Sri Lanka with the new ball. He started with two maidens against India and looked good. He can make the ball talk in both ways at a good pace, which can trouble the batters. Chameera will be eyeing a brilliant opening spell that can put his team on top.
9. Maheesh Theekshana :

Maheesh Theekshana is Sri Lanka’s premium spinner, but his numbers are pretty below par. He has only taken three wickets in six matches, and he has failed to take wickets in the middle overs. But he will feel good because Bangladeshi batters are struggling and will be under pressure, and Theekshana can use that against them.
10. Kasun Rajitha :

Kasun Rajitha has been taking wickets in the middle overs. He has taken 8 wickets in five games and has the ability to swing the ball both ways. Rajitha will have a big role to play as a first-change bowler because he can break partnerships and has been used by the captain to break partnerships.
