Sri Lanka to open their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign on October 7 against South Africa.

Sri Lanka was the first team from the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers to qualify for the World Cup’s main draw, which will start on October 5 in India. Additionally, they added a victory in the competition’s final, defeating fellow qualifiers Netherlands in a lopsided match.

World Cup champions in 1996 Sri Lanka, have participated in every men’s ODI World Cup, but this time they were concerned that their previous struggles might prevent them from making it to WC 2023.

Sri Lanka overcame the Netherlands in the WC 2023 Qualifier final despite having a slight hiccup against them to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to take place in India.

The 2023 men’s ODI World Cup will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad, and matches will be held across ten venues, and culminate in the final – also in Ahmedabad – on November 19. The semi-finals will be held in Mumbai and Kolkata on November 15 and 16.

The 45 league matches and the three knockouts will be played in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune over a span of 46 days. The two semi-finals and the final will all have reserve days.

Sri Lanka’s Complete Schedule for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:

While the Netherlands will enter the World Cup as Qualifier 1, Sri Lanka have qualified for the main draw of the 2023 tournament.

This means that on October 7 in Delhi, the team captained by Dasun Shanaka will play their World Cup opener against South Africa. The match-up with Pakistan will take place on October 10 in Hyderabad.

Then, on October 16 against Australia and on October 21 versus Qualifier 1, the Netherlands, they will play two consecutive games in Lucknow. On November 2 in Mumbai, they will play the hosts, India.
