Star Sports to broadcast Australian cricket including Big Bash League in India till 2030

Star Sports will be broadcasting Australian home cricket games starting 2023 to 2030.
Australian cricket summer is back on Disney Star as the broadcast channel has acquired the rights of telecasting Australian home summer along with Australian domestic tournaments including the newly popular Big Bash League and Women’s Big Bash League starting from 2023 to 2030. Star Sports was originally part of Cricket Australia’s broadcast partner for many years before 2017. Sony Sports Network acquired the broadcasting rights for the next 5 years after 2017. Now Star has won back and will be providing the Australian summer games to viewers.
Star Sports says proud to be part of CA family
Star Sports Network in a tweet announced the deal and stated, “Star Sports is proud to be the home of Australian cricket in India. The best of Australian men’s and Women’s cricket along with the Big Bash League will be hosted at India’s most loved destination for Sports fans. Cricket Australia and Star Sport via this long-term association, look forward to deepening relationships with fans, attracting new audiences, and growing fandom for the sport”. With this, Star has managed to win back one of the major events in the sporting calendar.
Australian captain Pat Cummins also welcomed the Star Sport in Cricket Australia family and expressed his pleasure with Cricket Australia joining the deal with Star Sports for the next 7 years.
The deal was signed last year and during that period Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said, “We are delighted to announce this new association with Disney Star from season 2023/24 onwards. Disney Star is synonymous with the game in India and we look forward to working with them to showcase the outstanding cricket played in Australia every summer”.
Start Sports now has broadcasting rights of ICC, ACC events, South African home cricket, Australian home cricket, Lankan Premier League, Sri Lanka home games, and big business Indian Premier League Television rights. The Australian Men’s team will begin their home summer with a 3-match test series against Pakistan. The Women’s team will be beginning their summer season with a WT20I series against the West Indies in October. Pakistan and the West Indies will be touring Australia next season.
