Stuart Broad also said that the current England team is their best side since 2010.
Former England pacer Stuart Broad has shared his views on the current Australia Cricket Team and England Cricket Team ahead of the Ashes 2025-26. The former right-arm pacer has termed the current Australian team, led by Pat Cummins, is their weakest side since 2010.
Australia and England are gearing up for the Ashes 2025-26, which will commence on November 21 with the opening game at Perth Cricket Stadium in Perth. Both sides will clash in five games during the campaign, with the fifth game scheduled to be played in Sydney from January 4-8, 2026.
Australia dominated England in the last two Ashes series at home, claiming 4-0 victories in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 editions. In the last edition of the Ashes in 2023 in England, the five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw, with Australia retaining the urn.
It’s probably the worst Australian team since 2010: Stuart Broad

During a chat with Jos Buttler on BBC’s Podcast “For The Love of Cricket,” cricketer-turned-commentator Broad said that the current Australian team, led by Pat Cummins, is their weakest side since 2010, while the Ben Stokes-led England are their best side.
“It’s probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won, and it’s the best English team since 2010. It’s actually not an opinion, it’s fact. So those things match up to the fact it’s going to be a brilliant Ashes series,” he said.
“When we have ever, since 2010, been discussing who is going to bat No.1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and who is going to be the spare bowler for Australia. You’re always go in there going: ‘well, the Aussies, they’re really strong. They’ve just got the same bowlers, the same team,” he added.
“But in 2010, when they were trying to replace [Glenn] McGrath, [Shane] Warne, [Matthew] Hayden, [Justin] Langer, they didn’t have a spinner. They changed the seamers all the time, and they had a bit of a mixed match of batters. So I don’t think anyone could argue that it’s their weakest team since 2010,” he further said.
Notably, Broad’s comments came in response to David Warner’s claims that Australia would win the Ashes 2025-26 by a margin of 4-0. Warner had also said that the Aussies are ‘playing for the Ashes’ while England are ‘playing for a moral victory’.
