Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar celebrated India’s victory in The Oval test by dancing and singing a patriotic song. Gavaskar was one of the commentators during India’s tour of England 2025 and could not hide his happiness after India made a wonderful comeback in the fifth test at The Oval.

England were bowled out for 367 runs while trying to chase 374 runs in the second innings of the Oval test. Mohammed Siraj led the pace attack for India with his five-wicket haul in the second innings. On day five, the right-arm pacer captured three wickets out of the remaining four to take India to a narrow victory by just six runs.

With the victory in The Oval test, India ended the five-match series in a 2-2 draw. Earlier, England won the opening game at Headingley by five wickets while India won the second test at Edgbaston by 336 runs. England outplayed India in the third test at The Lord’s by 22 runs. The fourth test at Old Trafford, Manchester, ended in a draw.

After India defeated England in the Oval test, Sunil Gavaskar sang and danced to the popular patriotic song “Mere desh ki dharti” with his fellow commentators and team members. Sony Sports Network shared the video of the moment on their official account on X (formerly Twitter), which went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Siraj was adjudged Player of the Match in the fifth test for clinching nine wickets in the clash. Shubman Gill and Harry Brook won Player of the Series awards for their marvellous batting shows. Gill, who smacked 754 runs with four centuries at an average of 75.40, finished as the highest run-scorer in the series.
