Shubman Gill ended the England test tour with 754 runs to his name.

Indian Cricket Team skipper Shubman Gill had a series to remember against the England Cricket Team with the bat. The right-hander ended as the leading run-getter with the bat as he slammed over 750 runs in the five games, shattering many records.

Shubman Gill, who was appointed as the test captain of India ahead of the series, led from the front and had his best series of the career. The premier batter started his stint on a high as he hit a brilliant century in the first game at Headingley in Leeds.

After that, Shubman Gill hit two centuries in the second match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The second innings of that game saw him hit his double century as he registered his career-best score of 269 runs, helping India win the game.

After having an off game in Lord’s, Shubman Gill hit a ton in the second innings of the Manchester test and helped his team draw the game. He had a dismal outing in the last match at The Oval, where he registered scores of 21 and 11 across two innings.

Overall, he scored 754 runs at an average of 75.40. He was on the verge of breaking Sunil Gavaskar’s record of most runs in a test series, but failed. The batting great hammered 774 runs against the West Indies in his playing days.

Even though he failed to break Sunil Gavaskar’s record, the batting great came up with a special gesture for him. He handed over a signed cap to the young batter and said:

“This is a little cap, which I give to very few people with my signature.”

He also said that he would wear his lucky jacket, which he wore during the India-Australia Gabba test in 2021.
