Surrey sign Sai Sudharsan for final three County Championship matches

Sai Sudharsan played for Gujrat Titans in IPL.
Surrey have signed India A batter named Sai Sudharsan in a bid to boost their chances of winning the County Championship title. The 21-years-old will be available for the county’s final three matches of the season, starting with Warwickshire’s visit to the Kia Oval on Sunday.
With only eight first-class appearances under his belt, left-handed batsman Sudharsan has two hundreds and an average of 42.71. A century was achieved for India A when he made his debut in the emerging Men’s Asia Cup last month. He has also played for Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League (IPL) during the past two seasons.
For Surrey, who are now in the top spot in Division One of the County Championship, the signing of Sudharsan is a big victory. A number of important players, notably Tom Latham, Ollie Pope, Will Jacks, and Sam Curran, who are all on duty for their countries, are absent for the reigning champions.
With Sudharsan’s arrival, Surrey will have additional middle-order batting alternatives. He is a proficient batsman with the ability to score runs in any situation. He is renowned for his hard work and is a skilled fielder.
‘Sai will add to the batting options’ Surrey’s director on Sai Sudharshan being added into the squad
On Inclusion of Sudharsan, Alex Stewart, Surrey’s director of cricket, said:
“Sai has come highly recommended to me by people I hugely respect, including a couple of the greats of the Indian game who have seen and worked closely with him.”
“Sai will add to the batting options for the final three games of the season, and we look forward to welcoming him to the dressing room.”
Sudharsan is the latest in a line of talented young Indian batsmen to sign for Surrey in recent years. The county has a long history of developing young talent, and Sudharsan is seen as one of the brightest prospects in the country.
Surrey are currently 17 points clear of their nearest rivals, Essex, and they are in a strong position to win the title. However, they will need to be at their best in the final three matches of the season, and Sudharsan’s arrival will give them a major boost.
With Sudharsan in their ranks, Surrey will be confident of challenging for the title in the final three matches of the season.
