Suryakumar Yadav-led India will take on Australia in five T20Is from October 29.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has hinted that the side will not be making huge changes in their playing combination in the Australia T20I series. His words came ahead of the first T20I that will be played on October 29 in Canberra’s Manuka Oval.
Prior to India’s first T20I against Australia, the skipper declared that the squad would use the same lineup regardless of the circumstances.
Before the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026, this is the only occasion India will play outside of the subcontinent. India participated in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in September after playing England at home earlier this year. In preparation for the world event, the Suryakumar Yadav-led team will also host South Africa and New Zealand at home.
“We are building for the World Cup,” Suryakumar Yadav says as he hints at the Indian team combination
India have chosen to include three spinners in Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel and rely on spin-bowling all-rounders in Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, and Rinku Singh, as they have played in subcontinental conditions thus far.
Suryakumar Yadav claims that even though the Australian tracks have more speed and bounce than the subcontinental ones, India are probably going to remain with the same mix.
“There is not a lot of change in combination based on conditions. Because when we went to South Africa, we played with one fast bowler, one all-rounder, and three spinners. We are not looking at matches as to whether they are in Asia or outside Asia; we are building for the World Cup,” Suryakumar Yadav said at the pre-game press conference.
India might also give either Nitish Kumar Reddy or Shivam Dube a chance in the playing XI as Hardik Pandya is out with an injury. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are likely to be the fast bowlers in the XI.
