Suryakumar Yadav got out for 12 and 5 in the first two T20I games against South Africa.
Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has been a stand-out leader in the shortest format as the Men in Blue have not lost any series under him. Moreover, he is among the most specialist batters for India in T20Is, known for his aggressive batting style and four centuries so far.
However, the right-handed batsman has struggled to make a mark with the bat in the ongoing series against South Africa Cricket Team. Getting out cheaply for 12 and five runs in the first two games, the 35-year-old batter has faced criticisms for his continuous struggle with his form.
Not only the ongoing series, but also the year 2025 hasn’t been great for the Indian T20I skipper. The veteran Indian batter has played 19 T20Is, hitting 201 runs at a poor average of just 14.35 across 17 innings. Moreover, he has also failed to score any half-centuries, with his highest score being unbeaten 47 runs in Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan. Notably, Yadav has failed to score a fifty in his last 20 innings.
Suryakumar Yadav last scored a fifty in a clash against Bangladesh in October 2024

Surprisingly, it has been more than a year since Yadav hit a half-century in T20Is. His last fifty came in a clash against Bangladesh in October 2024 at home. Both sides locked horns in three games, where India clinched a clean sweep against the visitors.
In the third T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 12, India won the toss and opted to bat first. Opener Sanju Samson grabbed the limelight with his century (111). Yadav, batting at No. 3, hit 75 runs off 35 deliveries, taking the scoreboard to a massive total of 297/6, India’s highest in T20Is. His innings was laced with eight boundaries and five sixes.
With Samson, Surya etched a stand of 173 runs for the second wicket. Later, the Men in Blue outplayed Bangladesh by a huge margin of 133 runs by restricting them to 164/7, winning the third game in a row. Samson was adjudged Player of the Match, while Hardik Pandya was awarded Player of the Series.
Notably, Yadav was close to hitting a half-century against Australia in the first T20I of the tour in October, where he was stranded at 39 when rain washed out the game. However, he has completely failed to come up with a big score in the ongoing series against the Proteas.
