Suryakumar Yadav said that he was ecstatic after Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the side.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has backed Jasprit Bumrah to excel against Pakistan in their next match of the T20 World Cup 2026. The senior Indian pacer made a comeback to the side in the IND vs NAM clash on February 12 (Thursday).

Bumrah missed the opening game against the USA due to illness, and Mohammed Siraj took his place in his absence. The former replaced Siraj in the playing XI following his return against Namibia. The right-arm pacer clinched one wicket in his four overs, bowling at a brilliant economy of 5.0.

India crushed Namibia by 93 runs to grab their second victory in a row in the tournament. With half-centuries by Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, the Suryakumar Yadav & Co. piled up 209/9 in the first innings. Later, they bowled out Namibia for 116 runs, with brilliant teamwork in bowling.

After the match, Suryakumar said that he is happy to see Jasprit Bumrah back in action. He also said that the star pacer is fully prepared for the next game. He also lauded Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube for their brilliant partnership.

“I mean, yeah, it was a big plus to see Bumrah bowl a quota of all the four overs. Good to have him back in the side. He’s all set to go for the next game as well. And also Varun Chakravarthy, the way they bowl in partnerships together with Axar Patel, I think it’s a difficult combination to play,” he said.

“Pretty good game for everyone. I think it was not an easy wicket to bat on, but the way Ishan and Sanju started, it did look like it was an easy wicket. Then the partnership between Shivam and Hardik, the way they batted after losing two or three quick wickets, I think it was very commendable,” he added.

The Indian captain also praised Namibia for their impressive bowling show against India. They did not allow key batters like Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav to score big.

“I think the ball was stopping a little bit, but I don’t want to take any credit away from all the Namibian bowlers. They bowled really well. I think they came out with fire. They had their plans, executed really well, but very impressed with their bowling as well. We lost two or three quick wickets, but then we had a good partnership and a good finish at the end as well,” the Indian captain stated.

Meanwhile, with the victory against Namibia, India have moved to the top spot in the Group A points table with four points. They will next clash with Pakistan on February 15 (Sunday) at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
