Suryakumar Yadav came up with a witty remark to Pakistan reporter’s question during post-match press conference.

Indian Cricket Team won Asia Cup 2025 title by defeating Pakistan Cricket Team in the final by five wickets on Sunday, September 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Not only on the field, the Men in Blue were also all over the opposition with their off-field antics. And, one of the main architects behind that was none other than skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who shut down a Pakistani reporter with his witty remark after he accused India captain of dragging politics into cricket.

The presentation ceremony after Asia Cup 2025 final witnessed a little bit of drama as Indian players refused to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsiv Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman. As a result of that, Naqvi took the trophy away with him and the winners were denied of trophy.

There was also an hour delay in the presentation ceremony due to the stubbornness of Pakistan players, who weren’t keen to come at the ground. On the other hand, despite all the drama, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. looked pretty happy and celebrated their victory on the podium without the trophy. The controversy dates back to start of the tournament when Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistan players and also click pictures.

During the post-match press conference, a Pakistani reporter accused Suryakumar of dragging politics into cricket with his actions.

“Today you are champions, you played a great game. But the question is, throughout this tournament your behaviour towards the Pakistan team has been noticed – you didn’t do handshakes, you didn’t take part in the photo session with the trophy, then you held a political press conference. Do you think that in the history of cricket you are the first captain who has brought politics into the game of cricket?” the Pakistan reporter asked.

The media advisors intervened and asked Suryakumar not to answer the question. However, the Indian skipper came up with a witty response, saying he couldn’t understand his long question.

“Do I have to answer or not? You’re getting angry. I couldn’t even understand your question – you asked four questions at the same time,” said Suryakumar.

During the press conference, the Indian skipper also reckoned that they deserved to get the trophy. In a heart-warming gesture, the right-handed batsman pledged to donate his earnings from Asia Cup 2025 to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and the Indian Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue won their ninth Asia Cup. They were unbeaten during the entire tournament, winning seven consecutive matches. Indian opener Abhishek Sharma, who finished as the highest run-scorer with 314 runs, was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
