ICC T20 World Cup 2026 features a battle among 20 teams for the trophy.
The countdown for ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has already begun as the campaign is scheduled to start next month. The 2026 edition of the tournament will commence on February 7 and conclude with the final on March 8.
Indian Cricket Team will aim to defend their title in T20 World Cup 2026. They won the previous edition in 2024 by crushing South Africa in the final. India, along with Sri Lanka, are the hosts of the multi-national tournament.
It will follow the same format as the last edition with 20 teams clashing for the title. They are divided into five teams of four groups each, and will play four games in the first round. Later, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 round, followed by the semis and the final.
Except for a few nations, many teams have already announced their squads. Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Team was removed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) over their demand to shift their matches out of India. ICC denied any last-minute changes to the schedule and replaced them with Scotland.
ICC T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up matches to start on February 2

Ahead of the tournament, teams will play warm-up matches in India and Sri Lanka in order to prepare and get acquainted with the conditions. The warm-up matches will start on February 2 and a total of 16 games will be played.
Indian Cricket Team will play one warm-up match against South Africa on February 4. Moreover, India A will also clash in two warm-up games against the USA and Namibia.
Navi Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru are three venues in India for warm-up matches, while R Premadasa Stadium is the fourth venue in Sri Lanka. Below is the complete schedule for all warm-up matches of ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
